The team is made up of Peter Bower and Bob Corbett. Read on below to find out more about what each brings to the project.
Peter is a life long lover of music.
He has been known as a professional writer, photographer, website manager, social media guy, movie reviewer, semi-serious competitive gamer, academic, and, when he has time, a lover of bad television, horror and superhero movies, and a drinker of good beers, fine wines and Bundy (or whatever else is put in front of him). He has an abnormal (though entirely logical) hatred of soup. Ask him about it sometime.
He graduated with his Master of Philosophy (English) degree in 2014, in which he applied sociological theories on the influence of place on the individual and the connection between place and portrayals of self to Australian pub fiction. He also wrote a collection of short stories, Overflow, which he hopes to publish someday. Part of this involved getting out there and meeting amazing musicians in local pubs, where he came to love the Newcastle music scene.
Music, like all art, needs to get out there and be seen, heard and experienced. Music on the Spot is yet another project in which Peter is involved in helping provide such a platform for others, having been a founder of SWAMP Writing, an online publication for postgraduate creative writers, back in 2008. He looks forward to discovering the amazing talent that lies within this city, as well as helping showcase that of which he already knows.
Peter has worked with several musicians in the past including international chart topper Grayson, Neville Anderson, Bob Corbett and others, helping produce music videos and provide music photography. His photography has been featured on the front page of the Newcastle Herald and in Fairfax publications, Country Music Capital News, the ABC website, and been highly commended in international photography competitions.
Bob Corbett is a multi-award-winning musician from Newcastle, Australia. He has released six albums of original compositions (2007 – 2015).

Among many of his achievements he has been nominated for four Golden Guitars at the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia (2012 – 2013), he has won nine 1233 ABC Music Awards (2006 – 2008), he has received seven nominations at The Australian Songwriters Awards (2009 – 2012), three nominations at the Victorian Country Music Awards (2012) and one nomination at The MusicOz Awards (2009).
In 2001 Bob attained a Bachelor of Arts (Communications Studies) from the University of Newcastle in which he majored in Film, TV and Sound production. During his university years he collaborated on many award winning short films including; Dolly & Fluffy – (Director ) winner of Best Film and Best Soundtrack at The Shootout; The Love Kitchen – (Director, Screenwriter, Co-composer) winner of Best Film at The Newcastle Film Awards.
His later video productions have centred around music. Bob has directed and released many music videos for his own projects and for other artists including, Mark Wells, Dave Carter, Ngariki, Neville Anderson and more. He has produced / directed / shot music videos that have been aired on ABC TV’s Rage, CMC (foxtel), Channel 10 and Channel 7.
